The United States, in its capacity as the host country of the IX Summit of the Americas, and in collaboration with the Summits of the Americas Secretariat, will provide a forum for civil society and social actors to meet on the days prior to the Ninth Summit and engage in dialogue with High-Level Government Representatives of the Americas.
The activities below have been envisaged in the framework of the Ninth Summit.
Civil Society Forum: Forum that will offer participants the opportunity to a) finalize their inputs to be presented at the Dialogue between Civil Society, Social Actors, and High-Level Government Representatives. The thematic-subregional working group format will be used; (b) participate in conversations with experts on the Summit priorities and related topics; (c) establish partnerships with other organizations and/or actors, and (d) provide a space to present their projects related to the thematic pillars of the IX Summit, helping to showcase their work and efforts and share good practices.
The Dialogue between Civil Society, Social Actors, and High-Level Government Representatives: Forum in which civil society representatives and social actors will present recommendations and interact with high-level representatives of the participating states in the Summits Process
The Forum and Dialogue will focus on the central theme of the IX Summit of the Americas “Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future,” under which the following five (5) thematic pillars are envisaged:
These Summit priorities are foreseen in the draft political commitments of the IX Summit, documents presented by the host country, and which are the basis for discussion of the participating governments of the Summits Process. The draft political commitments are available at SIRG (summit-americas.org).
All activities will be in-person. However, the Dialogue between Civil Society, Social Actors, and High-Level Government Representatives will be transmitted LIVE, giving those interested an opportunity to follow the event virtually.
